The Farrallon Islands

Our story

Headlands’ journey began when two home brewers met on a boat headed to the Farallon Islands with a plan to swim the 30 miles, through the great white shark habitat, back to the Point Bonita lighthouse. Naturally, these two maniacs became friends.

When they decided to join forces on a brewery, they wanted the beer to honor the unique rugged glory of the region. Beer that would feel like a well-earned reward, no matter the challenge of the day. Beer that would give you that "wow, I didn't get eaten by sharks today" feeling…

The inaugural creation, Point Bonita, continues to reign as our flagship brew, adorned with numerous awards. We’re now proudly rooted in the East Bay, but our core philosophy remains unchanged.

Born out of a love for our local community and a passion for the outdoors, we believe that great beer comes with great responsibility.

We believe life is all about finding the kind of fun that’s hard-earned but worth the effort.

There are few greater feelings than kicking off your ski boots at the end of a long day, or finally working up the courage to splash into a freezing cold lake.

That’s why we’ve made it our mission to protect the places that make those moments possible. We want to ensure the fresh ingredients and awe-inspiring landscapes that go into making great beer and great moments are here forever, not just today.
